I think I want to complain but not sure if it will do any good. You'll look classy and refined inside of our 2003 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor Sport that is gorgeous in Silver. Does anyone know if the recall was a big thing and it was considered a safey issue. I know they are an Acura dealership and they dont specialize in Mercedes but I just think that was a little unfair to sell me a car and not inform me. I was worried when I first purchased the car because the next day when I started the car it made a noise.ĭo you think Acura should of told me there was a recall on this car? I would think it would be on the carfax report or something. I brought it in Mercedes today and they are fixing the camshaft solenoid but I wont get to drive my car tillThursday. I did not know about the recall until after I bought it. I just bought a 2003 c230 kompressor from an acura dealership. I was wondering if anyone can give me advice. Thanks everyone I found out about the camshaft recall and mines is getting fixed. Hello, I am new to this forum and it has been very helpful. The only bright spot has been Webber Mercedes. Mercedes Canada, only after we refused to go away, offered up 50% of Parts cost and 0% labor. Mercedes USA issued a service campaign on the camshaft seal to over 60 thousand units, no charge to the owner. They are arrogant, rude, and customer service is non existant. Mercedes Canada on the other hand is horrible, if you live in Canada don't bother with Mercedes, go BMW. they went to bat with Mercedes Canada for us and tried thier best to decrease our cost. we didn't buy our car from them, realistically they were under no obligation to provide us with a loaner. they tend to be a little slow getting back to us on things but they gave us a 2010 GLX350 as a loaner which we have racked up 2000+ km on so far. My current dealer, we switched dealers early on into the ordeal because we felt we were being talked down to, has been awesome Webber Motors Edmonton AB. the rad is leaking glycol into the tranny, we hope that we have caught it early enough that a new rad and a flush X2 will cure it.if not we'll need to put in a remanufactured tranny. Then it was discovered that the rough shift was not the result of the electronic problems as first thought. changed out the electrical $3300CAD including a service B ($750CAD crazy eh?) Well by the time we get ours back there should be not much else left to go wrong.īought it on Aug 05, took it into the dealer on Aug 17th and have not driven it since. These are just the common ones that I've seen on the forum over the years. Many C230 owners go many years and miles without any problems. This is not to say your car has all these problems. Does not stop them from leaking but you can't have everything. MB recongnizes this as a problem and offers harness extensions that are relatively cheap, like $25 that will prevent the leaking oil from getting into the main engine harness. Costs to fix involves a new harness, new O2 sensor and 2 cam magnets, not cheap but there's good news. O2 sensor codes - the cam magnet sensors leak oil through their connector, it weeps into the harness and trickles down to the O2 sensor and ruins it. Not all 2003's had this, you have to get under the car and check for a Valeo sticker. Catch it early and you can get by with just buying a new radiator. Valeo Radiator - cracks internally and leaks coolant into the auto tranny, cost to fix, new tranny. Good news is MB dealers should fix it free, the hose is only $11, but if they don't in your country, figure a few hours labor at a dealer to replace it. Running rough - MB had a service campaign on the vent hose under the intake. that's about $3,500 but I think you can send the head out for valve job and it may cost you only $1,200-1,500. Typical dealer fix is to replace the head and in the U.S. Misfire codes, typically cyl #3 (P0303 code) is likely the valves got dirty and are not sealing. Here's the known defect that can make your car run bad. The good news is that they don't make that motor anymore (at least for the U.S. 2003 C230's had the most problems, or maybe it seems that way because it was the first year for that motor and people like me haven't reached that point yet on our 2004-2005 cars. ![]()
